Exceptional unloading at the Bremerhaven container terminal

The conversion of the “WES AMELIE” from WESSELS Reederei GmbH & Co. KG to LNG is an important pilot project with an exemplary character.

On Thursday, 27 April 2017, in the course of the morning, the approx. 500,000 liter liquid natural gas storage tank for the LNG conversion of the “WES AMELIE” will arrive with the container ship MSC “MAYA” from China at the Stromkaje in Bremerhaven.

From the container terminal, the storage container will be lifted from the loading bay of the MSC “MAYA” with the floating crane “ENAK”, carrying 500 tonnes, of the BUGSIER shipping company. Due to the size of the tank, it is transported to GERMAN DRY DOCKS AG in Barkhausenstrasse via the sea route. It is then temporarily stored on the premises of GERMAN DRY DOCKS AG, until the installation in the WES AMELIE.

Currently, GERMAN DRY DOCKS AG and its partners are manufacturing the corresponding tank foundations and the housing for the tank to be installed, so that when the WES AMELIE arrives, all large components are available according to the preliminary planning in order to achieve the shortest possible conversion period.
